Shepherd Mixx Supply is the merchandise side of a larger independent project about dogs; their history, their purpose, their peculiarities, and the people who had a hand in making them what they are.

And we mean all dogs.

Working dogs, hunting dogs, guard dogs, lap dogs, companion dogs, famous breeds, forgotten breeds, and a few whose original purpose vanished long ago while the dog, having received no notice of the matter, carried on.

The goal has always been pretty simple: find out where a breed came from, what shaped it, what it was bred to do, and what it actually is—then tell the story in a way that might teach you something without making you feel like you've been assigned homework.

Sometimes that's a breed history. Sometimes a video. Sometimes a song. There are usually a few laughs involved.

Why the Supply Side Exists

There are several ways to pay for independent work.

I could dance around like a fool for somebody else's company, interrupt a perfectly good dog story to tell you about some product I suddenly cannot live without, and encourage you to buy one before the discount code expires.

I'd rather not.

Especially since a fair amount of that stuff is junk.
