Here is an animal constructed with the size of a Mississippi freight train, the disposition of a Sunday school teacher, and vain as a riverboat hustler who just hit the jackpot and can’t stop smilin’ at his own reflection in the water.
He moves slowly, but not from laziness. A Bernese simply sees no merit in arriving out of breath when one may instead arrive magnificent. His coat is perpetually dressed for winter, his expression permanently forgiving, and his opinion of himself entirely correct.
A man may own many dogs in his lifetime, but the Bernese alone teaches the higher principles: be loyal, remain calm, look handsome, and never run unless there is snow involved or somebody has opened a sandwich.
