Long before the Lhasa Apso became a beloved companion, this small Tibetan dog had a much more important opinion of its responsibilities.
The Guardian of the High Places Edition celebrates the Lhasa Apso’s ancient connection to Tibet and the Himalayan highlands, where the breed was traditionally kept as an indoor sentinel in monasteries and important households. Small in stature but naturally watchful, the Lhasa developed the alertness, confidence, and independent judgment expected of a dog whose job was to notice when something wasn’t quite right.
Its magnificent floor-length coat may give the Lhasa an elegant appearance, but underneath all that hair is a sturdy, intelligent, self-assured little dog. Lhasas are known for forming strong bonds with their people while retaining enough independence to make it perfectly clear that affection and obedience are not necessarily the same arrangement.
That history inspired the centerpiece of this edition:
“Small Guardian of High Places.”
Snow-covered Himalayan peaks, monastery architecture, guardian imagery, prayer flags, stonework, and traditional decorative elements surround the Lhasa in a design inspired by the extraordinary landscape associated with the breed’s heritage.
The result is a tribute to one of the dog world’s great contradictions: small enough for your lap, ancient enough to have traditions, and confident enough to believe the entire property remains under its supervision.
